Artist Statement

‘Hot Girl Summer’ reconsiders a phrase loaded with cultural shorthand through a quieter, more intimate lens. Rather than focusing on spectacle, it lingers on the small rhythms of a beach day: rest, small comforts, the way people gather while still sitting in their own little worlds.

The work explores how these shared moments, private worlds, and everyday mundanity sit inside experiences we remember as golden. It leaves space for the beach to act not just as an escape, but as an anchor within the rest of life, and in doing so, also creates space for the viewer’s own version of a hot girl summer story.
